April 13, 2016 (Penn Yan, NY) – Fox Run Vineyards, located in the Finger Lakes region in Upstate New York, has been selected as the featured white wine for the Calgary Stampede Premium Venues this July. The Fox Run 2015 Doyle Family Unoaked Chardonnay was selected by the Calgary Stampede during a rigorous selection process, and will be poured in various hospitality locations such as Ranahans, The Lazy S, and Infield Suites during the 10-day event.

“We received a warm welcome into the Alberta market from the start. The opportunity to showcase our wine at the Calgary Stampede is a testament to the quality wines that Fox Run produces in smaller quantities,” says Fox Run owner Scott Osborn. “We know that there are large wine producers that we have to compete with on a daily basis and it is so satisfying when ‘David’ can overcome ‘Goliath’. It is a huge step in achieving global recognition for Fox Run and the Finger Lakes.”

The Calgary Stampede is an annual rodeo, exhibition, and festival held every July in Alberta, Canada. The 10-day event, which bills itself as ‘The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth’ attracts over one million visitors each year to Stampede Park which is comprised of 208 acres. The goal of Calgary Stampede (first held in 1912) is to preserve and promote western heritage and values. It is a treasured link to the history and celebration of rodeo and agriculture, featuring a vast array of arts, agricultural exhibits, and musical performances. Each day concludes with a rodeo competition followed by chuckwagon races. The Stampede spirit has become the international identity of the city, known as the ‘Stampede City”.

Fox Run Vineyards is distributed in the Alberta province by North by Northwest Wine Imports. This long-standing winery’s products have been available in this market for over two years now and are currently sold in boutique liquor stores and restaurants across the province. Additional Fox Run wines available in Alberta include a reserve-tier Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, Lemberger, and various Rieslings.

“One of the goals of North by Northwest Wine Imports has been to promote the quality and style of New York wines, specifically from the Finger Lakes AVA,” says North by Northwest’s Jeremy Raaymaker. This is a tremendous leap forward for our already-strong partnership with Fox Run Vineyards. Having the opportunity for so many people from so many parts of the world to get the Fox Run Doyle Family Chardonnay in their glass goes a long way toward solidifying the reputation of Finger Lakes wine.”

“This is a great tribute to Fox Run Vineyards and all the people who made this happen, as well as great publicity for Finger Lakes and New York wines. We know that there are many superb wines of all types being made in the Finger Lakes, but having the Fox Run Doyle Chardonnay so prominently featured at an international event of this magnitude is enormously beneficial in spreading that reputation.” says Jim Trezise, President, New York Wine & Grape Foundation.
